Holden's Birthday

Yesterday was my little guy's 2nd birthday. I cannot believe it! Where does the time go?

Brant took the day off from work, and we celebrated as a family. We kept things simple . . . playing at home, lunch at Chick-Fil-A, and cupcakes last night. His birthday party with family and friends is next weekend.

His gifts:
We have never seen a Spiderman movie or TV show. I have no idea how my boys found out about him (or Batman). Maybe by seeing the toys or clothing? It's a mystery! Regardless of how they learned about these guys, they have fallen in love with all things superhero!

Quinn got Spiderman and the "Crime Mobile" for Christmas. Holden has ended up playing with it more than Quinn! So, we got him his own Spiderman complete with his "Crime 4-wheeler" (or whatever it's called!) . . .

Bob the Tomato . . .

and Larry the Cucumber . . .

After breakfast, we took him upstairs to see his final gift . . .

A race car ball pit!

We made sure that it would be big enough for both boys. And, they both fit . . . but, it sure is "cozy"!

Holden even let Daddy ride along . . .

Lunch at Chick-Fil-A:
Quinn does a great job of helping Holden to get up in the play center. Then, Holden gets scared coming back down. I always have to go in after him. Believe me . . . it's a tight squeeze up there (and not a pretty sight to watch)!

Does everyone out there know that you can exchange your kid's meal toy/book for ice cream? I only recently discovered this delicious fact!

Happy 2nd Birthday Holden!

My sweet Holden is 2 today!!!

2007

2008

2009

Holden, at 2, you LOVE:
your big brother (you copy EVERY single thing that Quinn does - right or wrong!),
Spiderman (who you call ManMan),
Veggie Tales (Bob, Larry, and the "Can I have my ball?" song),
dancing to fun music (you have some good rhythm!),
wrestling with Daddy and Quinn,
choo-choos,
and hugs and kisses (you are a little snuggler)!

Holden, you have brought such love and joy to our family. Daddy, Quinn and I love you more than you will ever know!

*Also, you are turning out to be quite the Mommy's boy . . . and I LOVE IT!!! :-)

Christmas with the Quinns

On Christmas afternoon, we traveled to Mama and Papa Quinn's house.

Round 3 of gifts, food, and fun!

If there was a theme for the boys' Christmas gifts, it would be "superheros". Spiderman, Batman, Buzz, and the Incredible Hulk were all big hits this year!

Holden and Uncle Gene . . .

With my parents (Mama/Papa Quinn), Aunt Patsy and Uncle Gene (my dad's aunt and uncle) . . .

Quinn got his own camera and spent much of the day asking everyone to say "cheese"!

Holden telling Papa to look at Quinn . . .

Our attempt at a family photo . . .

We hope that all of you had a terrific Christmas! As you can see, we sure did! :-)

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was very fun! Quinn was SO excited to get downstairs and see what Santa brought him. Holden was excited because Quinn was SO excited!

It was really funny to watch them with their gifts. Holden had no interest in opening his own presents. He just stood back and watched Quinn. Quinn would open a present, get excited, play with it a little bit, put it aside, and open another gift. Holden would wait patiently until Quinn put the gift aside and would swoop in to play with it himself! TOO funny! We had to practically beg Holden to open his gifts. I must say that I have been very proud of Quinn. He has shared all of his toys really well . . . thank goodness!!! ;-)

Christmas Eve

We celebrated Christmas Eve at Mama Carol's house.

The boys gots LOTS of great gifts . . .

The boys "working" hard on the gate. They were trying to "free" Brandi's 2 dogs on the other side!

Fun times! Great to see you Brandi!

Children's Ministry Christmas Party

I hope that everyone had a terrific Christmas. We certainly did! We had a Christmas Eve dinner celebration at Mama Carol's house. Our little family of four celebrated Christmas morning at home, eating sausage balls and opening presents. And, Christmas afternoon and evening were spent at Papa and Mama Quinn's house. We ate lots of goodies, opened lots of great presents, and were filled with lots of love and laughter. What a terrific 2 days!!!
**I took TONS of pictures. I still need to go through them. I will posting again soon!

Children's Ministry Christmas Party

Kat and I are currently serving as co-coordinators of Children's Ministry at our church. Last weekend, we hosted a Christmas Party for our preschool and elementary school kids.

Kat led the kids in a celebration of Jesus' birthday. She found this great activity that incorporated different Bible verses and a birthday cake.

Chocolate cake = sin
White frosting = forgiveness of our sins
Red sprinkles = blood of Christ
Green sprinkles = everlasting life through Jesus
Candle = bright light of Christ in the world

Because I was busy running around the Fellowship Hall, it was up to Brant kept the boys occupied and happy!
