Updates

Quinn: We're still praying every morning before school, praying for Q to have a great day and for him to be quiet! So far, the prayers are working!

Holden: He's absolutely LOVING being the big boy of the house while Q is at school. There have been lots of play dates with his own buddies, not tagging along after Q. And, best of all, he has free reign of Q's room (with his permission, of course!).

Fletcher: He's busy moving and drooling. And, he's just as happy as ever!

The Day After Irene

Reason #247 for having kids: Hurricane clean-up! ;-)

Fletcher sat back and watched his big brother, probably thankful that he was too small to do yard work! Ha!

*Holden was spending the day at Mama Carol's house. I'm sure that she put him to work, too!

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene moved through our area last night and all day today. Thankfully, it provided only wind, rain, fallen limbs/branches, and a couple of hours without power (2 - 4am). We were very lucky.

It was actually nice to spend the day inside the house. We had costumes and props . . .

arts and crafts . . .

lots of looking outside & surveying the damage . . .

games . . .

toys to chew on . . .

and movie night, complete with popcorn and M&M's . . .

Hope that all of you made it through the storm safely, too!

Fletcher's 1st Birthday

Well, it happened . . . our baby turned 1 today. We had a little family celebration tonight with pizza and cupcakes. Fletcher was thrilled with all of the attention and sugar. Happy Birthday to our sweet boy! You have made our family complete. We love you more than you will ever know!

Many thanks to Mama Carol for Fletcher's big gift. It was a hit!

He Seems To Know . . .

because Fletcher is FINALLY consistently pulling up and starting to cruise . . .

*I cannot believe that he turns 1 tomorrow! This year has flown by!

Our New Morning Prayer

Quinn LOVES Kindergarten. He is beyond excited about big boy school. If you ask him what he likes best about school, he will answer "everything"! I certainly appreciate his enthusiasm. However, it makes it hard for him to contain himself and be quiet. Poor thing, he just has so much to say!

Last Friday was especially hard for him. His "race car" ended up in the "pit stop". He did not get a sticker in his folder, and he did not receive a prize from the prize box. There were consequences at home, and we spent most of the weekend talking about being quiet, raising your hand, and having listening ears at school.

We started Monday (yesterday) with a new morning prayer:

Dear Lord,
Thank you for this wonderful day. Please help Quinn to have a great day at school. And, please help him to be quiet . . . especially when Ms. Wagoner is talking.
Amen

When I picked him up from school yesterday, he had a big smile on his face. His first words? "Mommy, I got a sticker today. God helped me to be quiet. I think that we should say that prayer every morning!" I think that we should, too. It seemed to work both yesterday and today. Thank you God!

His Time Finally Came

After tagging along and watching Quinn participate in 2 1/2 years of parks and rec sports classes, it was finally Holden's turn. As you can see, he was very pleased!

Now, it is Fletcher's turn to tag along and watch . . .

I know full well that his time will come, too.

Bubble Gun Fun

Fletcher finds his big brothers highly entertaining. And, Quinn and Holden certainly enjoy having an adoring fan.

Happy Friday everyone!

Aug 2011 (Kindergarten)

*Quinn had a great first day of K. He said that he liked everything about it. He was excited to go back today. I spoke with his teacher, and she said that he did a great job. However, he needs to work on his talking . . . learning when to talk and when not to (not blurting out answers, talking with his neighbors, etc.). Not a shock at all! The boy likes to talk! His teacher assured me that this is a common issue during the first days of K, and that they will handle it. This morning, I said an extra prayer that he learns to zip his lips when needed.

***UPDATE***
This afternoon I got a note from Q's teacher that he had a much better day (in regards to the talking). She wrote that he caught himself many times and just smiled a big smile at her instead. So, he's making progress!

The First Day of K

Well, we all survived dropping off Quinn at Kindergarten. He was so very excited, and he looked all grown up. Here's praying for a great first day!

I must have looked a little sad and anxious. The teacher said that I could come in and take a picture of him at his seat . . .

There were no tears this morning. He was just too excited and proud for me to be too sad. What a big guy!

*We are working on a new daily routine. Today, we (me, Fletcher & Holden) were back home by the time that we are normally getting up and eating breakfast! Times are changing!
