The Big Game

Last night was the final night of Quinn's parks and rec basketball summer session. And, do you know what's so special about the final night? It's game night! They put adorable little jerseys on the kids and let them "play" ball. It is unbelievably cute! No one takes it seriously; everyone is there to have fun. It's great!

Can you tell that Fletcher was excited? Ha!

A few pictures of the big game . . .

During the action, Fletcher enjoyed some puffs . . .

Holden enjoyed a sucker . . .

and Brant's phone . . .

So, as you can see, everyone had a great time!

Snakes

What was the boys' morning obsession? Snakes!

It all started with slithering around on the floor . . .

Next came the scary viper faces . . .

The finale? Toy snakes . . .

So, really, it was just another action-filled, loud, and rowdy morning in this house full of boys! ;-)

Hangin' At Home

Last Friday, we had a lazy morning spent at home. It was a much-needed break from all of our busy summer fun. What a nice way to recharge!

The morning was filled with entertainment by the big boys:

Crazy hair modeled by the littlest brother:

And, plenty of popsicles enjoyed by all (Fletcher even had a few licks!):

VBS

We survived Vacation Bible School! It has been an action packed 3 days (Thurs night, Fri night, Sat morning and night). We'll be back in the morning for services and a celebration luncheon. It has been an exhausting few days, but the boys have had a blast learning about God's recipe in the "Shake It Up Cafe". They have been signing songs, playing games, making crafts, and listening to Bible stories.

As a child, I had no clue what was involved behind the scenes of VBS. As a parent and a volunteer, I have learned that it involves a ton of work (and patience). But, I have also learned that it is all completely worth it! :-)

Someone super cute . . .

has been making a super big mess on my kitchen floor . . .

And, he looks super proud of himself, doesn't he?

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Poor Guy

This morning, I was walking into church summer camp with the boys. Holden was in front of us. He innocently turned a corner and tripped over a lady's foot. He went down HARD, face first onto the floor. He is prone to nose bleeds (as is Brant), but I have never seen it bleed like this. Who knew that so much blood could come out of such a little guy? It took me over 15 minutes to get it to stop bleeding and to clean up the damage. His poor little forehead and nose still look awful. He was such a champ, only crying a little bit, changing his clothes, and joining his class. The rest of his morning went much more smoothly . . . thank goodness!

His original outfit (thankfully the blood came out in the washer!) . . .

Trying Hard

Mr. Fletch is trying very hard to crawl. No success yet, but he is on his way.

First, he gets up on his hands and knees . . .

Then, instead of crawling, he falls to the floor . . .

and goes swimming . . .

Although he's not actually moving any where, he is still mighty happy with himself! ;-)

Basketball

Quinn's taking a mini session of basketball through our parks and rec department. Last night was his first class.

I took Holden outside to the playground to help distract him from the fact that he is not old enough for the class. Poor guy wants to do whatever big brother does. I see many more years of this in our future! Fletcher and Brant watched the action in the gym . . .

Q made 6 baskets and was very proud of himself . . .

Swim Lessons

The big boys are taking swim lessons this week and next week. They are both doing really well. The lessons are early in the morning before the pool opens. The water has been COLD! They haven't been complaining, but I am very glad that I'm not the one taking lessons! ;-)

Holden's lesson is first. Quinn passes the time by pushing Fletcher around in the stroller . . .

Of course, Fletcher certainly doesn't mind the ride and the attention . . .

When it's Quinn's turn in the pool . . .

Holden passes the time with snacks and suckers (he's not as interested in entertaining his baby brother) . . .

*Please note the band-aids on H's knee. He fell right before today's lesson. His exact words? "You told me to walk, but I kept running." Yes, I did . . . I most certainly did! Maybe he'll remember that tomorrow!

The past couple of mornings we have left the pool and gone straight to summer camp at our church's preschool. It's made for some busy mornings, but the big boys are having a blast.

Happy Dusting

If you've been following this blog for any length of time, you know that our beloved home is a work in progress. The "old girl" was built in the early 1980's. During the six years that we've lived here, we have tackled a long list of projects trying to bring our home sweet home into the 21st century.

Our kitchen has received the most attention with refinished cabinets, new hardware, countertops, and a tile backsplash. We can now add new flooring to the list. While we were at the beach, we had hardwoods installed in the kitchen and had the hardwoods repaired and refinished in the entry and dining room. We love the results.

Our contractor warned us that hardwood installation was a very dusty process. His exact words on the phone? "Happy dusting!" Despite the warnings, I was still shocked when I got home and faced the cleanup job. I spent over 10 hours on Saturday cleaning/organizing/redecorating/etc the entire downstairs. It was definitely worth the expense and hard work, but believe me . . . it was A JOB! I'm really glad to have this particular project checked off of our "to do" list!

Favorite Food

At the beach, I introduced Fletcher to my absolute favorite food . . . WATERMELON!

He's now a big fan, too!

Beach Vacation

We had a great family beach trip this year. We tried a new beach, Ocean Isle, and it was a sleepy little beach town perfect for families. The boys (especially Q and H) had an absolute blast. Because they are getting older and more independent, this was probably the best trip that we have had as a family.

There were 2 other families staying near our condo. The kids became friends and played together (and entertained each other!) all week. The weather was beautiful. We were able to play on the beach every morning, and Brant took the big boys to the pool almost every afternoon. And, that's really all we did . . . beach, eat, nap, pool. The boys were very happy!

Beach fun:
