3 Things

1. The big boys showing off their tattoos and face paint at Friday night's Relay for Life event. Holden asked for an airplane on his cheek (in case you can't tell what that blue thing is!).

2. Quite possibly the sweetest invitation I've ever received!

3. The 3 boys watching Brant drive away for work last week. This is their almost daily send-off for Daddy!

Boys Bring Trauma

What started as a fun playdate with friends ended with a trip to the urgent care for liquid stitches!!! :(

In less than an hour of playing, Fletcher tripped over one of the play mats at the bouncy house. When he fell, he bit his chin and punctured the inside of his lip. There was a lot of bleeding and swelling. After saying a VERY quick goodbye to our friends, we headed to the urgent care. I was pretty sure that he would need liquid stitches; Quinn had 2 similar lacerations when he was a toddler.

Thankfully the urgent care was close by, and Fletcher was seen quickly. He did need liquid stitches on his chin; the laceration is directly under his lip. The PA said that it should heal nicely with very little scarring and that it was a "good tear". He also told me to get ready because "boys bring trauma and girls bring drama" (he was a dad of girls). Ha! I've never heard that one!

His poor face hasn't completely healed from the fall on the driveway. So when you add a swollen lip and a cut chin, you get a pretty pitiful-looking little guy! :(

Holden was a real trooper through the whole thing. He was very cooperative about having to leave the fun bouncy house and his buddies to take his little brother to the doctor. In fact, the whole ordeal inspired his "playing doctor" when we got home. Here he is writing a prescription for Fletcher!

*Maridith - If you're reading this, you may want to retract your statement (from the night before all of this!) about Fletcher being so coordinated! ;)

Face First

Last week, Fletcher was running in the driveway and fell . . . ON HIS FACE!!! Ouch! Look at this poor boy!

This week, he looks much better. The only boo-boo left is a scab on his upper lip. Kinda looks like he has a mustache, right? ;-)

More Camping Pictures

Brant and Holden are home from their camping adventure with the Capps and Rothmans at Kerr Lake. Other than a thunderstorm and a leaky tent (they both woke up soaked!), the trip was a success. They are both exhausted . . . but very happy!

Super Saturday

Quinn and I spent the morning at his school volunteering and experiencing Super Saturday, their annual fundraiser. It's a big carnival complete with games, rides, face painting (check out Spiderman) and food. We had a great time! It's always super special to have some one-on-one time.

Q discovered laser tag and played with some friends from his class (Ty and Tristen).

He ran in a "quick dash". Here's Q getting the pre-race instructions:

He even won a cake in the cake walk! Yum!

*Brant, Holden and Fletcher spent the morning at soccer and having other fun. Right now, Brant and Holden are camping with some friends. Holden's getting a little one-on-one time, too. ;-) Here's a couple of pictures that Brant sent me:

Fletch

A few recent pictures of my Mr. Fletcher.
*Most people say that he's a mini-Brant. I think that I see it! ;-)

The Final Celebration

Today, we celebrated Q's 6th birthday for the fourth and final time; round 3 was doughnuts with his Sunday School class yesterday. Brant, Fletcher and I had lunch with him at school and brought ice cream sandwiches for his class.

*Ms. Wagoner told me that he was so funny this morning telling everyone about the DS that he got for his birthday. He told them that he had wanted one "for years"! Ha!

I managed to get a picture of Fletcher smiling. Please excuse the food in his mouth! I take what I can get! ;-)

He chose his friend Trevor to eat with us. Here they are being silly!

Happy 6th Birthday Q!

Well, today was the BIG day! Quinn is 6!!!

Our Quinn is such a sweet, smart, caring boy. He loves his family (especially his little brothers), friends and Jesus. He is FULL of energy and enthusiasm. Never one to be shy, he is quite the talker; LOUD is his volume of choice. He loves to be right in the middle of the action; he's very comfortable being the center of attention. He is certainly one of a kind!

His birthday gift from us? A red Nintendo DS! After MONTHS of voicing his request, he's now the proud owner of his very own video game controller. He is OVER THE MOON with excitement!

Happy Birthday to our Mr. Q! We are so very happy to have you in our family. I am especially happy that I get to be your mommy! Wow, I'm a lucky girl!

Round 2

Tomorrow is Quinn's 6th birthday, and we've already had 2 birthday celebrations for him. By the time that we're done, it'll be 2 weeks of celebrating! Lucky boy!

Round 1 was his birthday party with his buddies and snakes. Today was round 2. Mama/Papa Quinn and Mama Carol came to Q's soccer game, and then we all came home for cupcakes and gifts. It was simple and sweet!

*He insisted that the snake finger puppets make another appearance. I promise that they were washed thoroughly! ;-)

Also, Quinn's soccer skills and motivation have improved IMMENSELY from last fall! He looks like a completely different kid this spring. He seems to really enjoy it, and he's much more aggressive on the field. He's doing a great job!

Holden, on the other hand, seems perfectly happy to walk around the field aimlessly or to sit on the sidelines drinking water and eating snacks. Oh, well! At least he's happy to be there! ;-)

History Museum

The boys and I had a little time this morning before meeting Brant for lunch. We tried to go to the science museum, but it was closed for renovation. So, we walked over to the history museum. It was pretty cool! The boys especially liked the Sports Hall of Fame and all of the guns, swords and war memorabilia. We still prefer the science museum (it's a little more kid-friendly), but it was a good alternative for a cold morning in the big city! ;-)

*Can you tell that Fletcher is currently in a "don't take my picture" phase? Ha!
