Bow Tie

Someone found Brant's old bow tie. And, that someone LOVES it! Quinn has always appreciated a good costume/accessory. ;-)

Holden insisted on getting his picture taken with the fancy Mr. Q. They certainly make quite the pair. One is in a bow tie and button-up shirt. The other is in pajamas, complete with bed head. Ha!

Dreams Do Come True

Today was "Pajama Day" at Holden's preschool. So, he could wear his Superman tank top to school!!! I really cannot put into words how excited this little boy was this morning! ;-)

Also, our beloved Wolfpack lost to the Tarheels last night. After hearing the sad news this morning, Holden replied "Aww man! I'm going to get them and throw them in jail!" Poor guy was very disappointed with his team.

Finally this morning, I got this Facebook message from my friend Kristy:
"Holden came into school this morning and I said, Go Tarheels. He said, No, I pull for the Pack. I said, NO, the Tarheels won. At this school we pull for the heels. He replied, at this school we pull for Jesus."
Out of the mouths of babes! Happy Friday everyone! :-)

Dumpster Diving

A teachable moment? When you throw 2 of your little brother's Lego men in the trash can, you will have to sort through the trash and find them. Considering the drama that occurred before and after this picture was taken, I feel FAIRLY confident that this particular incident will not happen again (others sure, but not this particular incident!).

*We had been playing outside. Holden didn't have pockets, so he gave the Lego men to Q for safe keeping. At some point, Q decided that he didn't want them in his pocket anymore and THREW THEM AWAY! I'm sure that it was a quick decision . . . one that he regretted for the rest of the evening. Ah, fun times at our house!
**Thank goodness it was the recycling trash can and not the actual trash can. Double yuck!
***Yes, I took a picture of the offender! ;-)

Q's Artwork

In an effort to record memories (and cut down on paper clutter!), here are some pictures of Q's recent artwork.

A card for Holden:

The inside? A picture of Luke and Darth Vader battling.

A card to me:

The inside? A picture of Quinn and watermelon (2 of my favorite things in the world!).

Sunday School art: He wants to be a policeman.

He had extra time, so he flipped over his paper and drew a robber (that he would catch as a policeman, of course!).

Holden - update

I realized that I haven't written very much about my Mr. Holden over the past couple of weeks. But, never fear, he is still here and doing well.

There hasn't been too much to write because if he isn't at preschool, church, eating or sleeping, he is right here . . .

The boy is OBSESSED with Legos! He will spend hours at this table building Lego people and flying them in his space ships. I have devised a number of organizational systems for him to use. But, as you can see, he prefers to have them scattered on his table . . .

It does make my OCD-self twitch a bit to see all these tiny little pieces everywhere. But, he's happy and occupied. And because of Fletch, the Legos have to stay in his bedroom . . . thank goodness!

Cozy Day

Mr. Q and Big Teddy on "Pajama/Favorite Bear Day" . . .

Quinn was a little hesitant to take Big Teddy to school. He was afraid that his friends would think that "he's broken". I told him that he could choose a different bear or we could put some clothes on him (help cover some of his boo-boos). But, TRUE LOVE PREVAILED!

*I did say a little prayer this morning that his classmates are kind, that there are some equally "loved" bears at school today, and that poor Big Teddy survives the whole ordeal (he's barely hanging on as it is!)!

2 Things

2 things that I love about this picture (other than the sweet boy in it)?
1. I LOVE the "ladies man" shirt!
2. I caught an actual, authentic smile on camera!

2 things that I love about this picture (other than the sweet boy responsible for it)?
1. My first baby is WRITING SENTENCES!
2. He was so proud of himself; I just had to put it on the fridge!

Chapel Award

This morning was Quinn's turn to receive special recognition during chapel time at school. It was a sweet time; my Mr. Q does enjoy the spotlight! ;-)

Child-like Faith

This boy of mine is turning into quite the evangelist. It is such a joy and inspiration to see his love for the Lord.

Just a few examples (for my records):
*He says that he wants to be a "preacher" and a "colorer" (artist) when he grows up.
*He has asked Jesus into his heart and is very serious about his nightly and mealtime prayers.
*When he finishes his work at school, he often flips his paper over and draws while waiting on others to finish. Last week, he drew a cross. He colored the center yellow. He told me that's because "His light shines on all of us."
*There was a little magic trick at H's birthday party. The kids thought that it was really cool. Q's statement (at a loud volume - that's basically his only volume!)? "That's real magic! That's God's magic!" ;-)
*I found him standing on his bed, strumming his guitar, and singing worship music last Sunday afternoon.

"Hey Mom, Come Here!"

And, this is what I saw as I rounded the corner . . .

Oh my! ;-)

Many Thanks

Many thanks to these paper grocery bags . . .

They kept my little man busy and occupied for at least 15 minutes this morning. Ha! ;-)

Holden's Birthday Party

This morning, Holden wrapped up his birthday festivities with a party at a local bounce house. This place was awesome. All we brought was the cake, goody bags, and ourselves! The birthday boy had lots of fun and is now completely knocked out and sleeping like a baby! ;-)

President or Vampire?

Quinn has the sweetest Kindergarten assistant teacher. She's very personable and friendly. She truly loves the kids and their families. I cannot say enough nice things about her. Well, she sent me a VERY interesting Facebook message last night. Here's an exerpt (and I'll follow with an explanation):

"During chapel time this morning, we were watching a slide show and a few pictures of Abraham Lincoln came up. Quinn said "Oh no! Mrs. Dry, Abraham Lincoln is a vampire!" I tried to assure him that he was not a vampire but that he was a president many years ago and is on the penny. I thought our conversation was over, wrong! [:)]

Quinn went on to say that he was sure he was a vampire, that his Daddy told him Abraham Lincoln was a vampire. His eyes were big and he was very serious and concerned. I tried to assure him that he probably misunderstood his Daddy, that vampires are not real. He is positive that he heard Daddy correctly. To Quinn this was serious vampire business, and Abe Lincoln was number one suspect!

I told him that his Daddy is so smart and I know he always tells him the truth; I didn't want him to think I was trying to discredit his Daddy. I tried again to tell Quinn that he misunderstood and to ask Daddy about it tonight. This seemed to settle it for the moment, and he didn't mention this again. So if you get odd Abe Lincoln questions from Q tonight, this is why. With February coming up I guess now is the time to handle it, before we study poor Abe and we have pictures of him in the room."

About 1 minute after reading this message, I called Brant into the room and read the entire message to him. I was beyond eager to find out WHAT IN THE WORLD was going on! Well, he knew immediately what had happened.

On Holden's birthday, Brant took Q and H to the movies (to see the latest Chipmunks movie). There is a new movie coming out . . . Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer. Quinn saw the movie poster in the lobby and recognized ole' honest Abe. He asked Brant to read the poster. So, Brant read the poster, told Quinn that it was a movie for grown ups, and they all came home. No more was said about it until yesterday at school . . . during CHAPEL TIME!

Next, we called Quinn into the room to clear up the Abraham Lincoln/vampire business. I think that we succeeded . . . whew! I also explained it all to Mrs. Dry, and we both had a good chuckle about it. NEVER A DULL MOMENT, my friends, NEVER! A former president as a vampire? Who knew?

Snuggle Time

My 3 boys sweetly snuggled together to watch a little PBS Kids this morning . . .

*We had our carpets cleaned this morning . . . that explains the lack of furniture in the background!

Holden's Birthday - round 2

Fletcher and I brought a cookie cake for Holden and his preschool buddies this morning. We had a little family birthday celebration last Friday, and Holden's big birthday party this Saturday. One advantage of having your birthday over a holiday vacation? You get to celebrate for a week or so! ;-)
